The Gospel of the Kingdom and the Gospel of the Grace of God are different gospels and neither John the Baptist, Christ in His earthly ministry, nor Peter and the twelve ever preached the Gospel of the Grace of God that the apostle Paul preached:
- Paul was the only apostle to preach the Gospel of the Grace of God and that happened after the glorified Lord Jesus returned from heaven to reveal it to him.
- The Lord Jesus Christ and His twelve apostles preached to Israel, and the content of the message that they preached was identified as “the Gospel of the Kingdom.”
- Peter, who had been preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom and water baptizing since Matthew 10, did not understand the cross (which Christians glory in) and tried to prevent the Lord from going to Calvary.
- The Gospel of the Kingdom did not include the cross (Jesus’ death and resurrection), but the death, burial and resurrection (1 Cor 15:1-4) definitely constitute the Gospel of the Grace of God.
- None of the apostles understood the cross and certainly none of them preached it or gloried in it.
- Jesus Christ committed the Gospel of the Kingdom unto Peter and the twelve well before the apostle Paul was called out and the Church, the body of Christ, was started.
- Speaking to the twelve about the signs and times of the end of the world Jesus stated (Mt 24:14)… “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
- This will happen after the Church is called home (the Rapture of the Church), thus ending the Gospel of the Grace of God.
- This is the same gospel message Jesus was teaching in Mt 4:23 as He had the twelve gathered around Him. It is therefore the very gospel message He commissioned the twelve to preach in Mk 16:15… “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Jesus was speaking to the Gospel of the Kingdom.
- Speaking to the twelve about the signs and times of the end of the world Jesus stated (Mt 24:14)… “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
- A comparison between Matthew 24:14 and Colossians 1:23 identifies what appears to be (without Right Division) a contradiction within Scripture:
- Mt 24:14 – And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
- The gospel will be preached in all the world and then the end will come.
- Col 1:23 – If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
- The gospel, through Paul, was preached to every creature which is under heaven (i.e. “in all the world”).
- Would this not fulfill Mt 24:14?
- The gospel, through Paul, was preached to every creature which is under heaven (i.e. “in all the world”).
- Since Paul indicates that he completed the task, why hasn’t the end come yet?
- If there is “one gospel,” the end should have come by now.
- Since the end did not come when every creature had heard, clearly the gospel Paul preached was not the Gospel of the Kingdom, but rather “the Gospel of the Grace of God.” (Acts 20:24)
- Mt 24:14 – And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
