A Biblical Response to the Claim that Joe Biden is the Antichrist

In 1517, Martin Luther published his 95 theses. In his theses, Luther condemned the excesses and corruption of the Roman Catholic Church and the papacy, especially the papal practice of asking for payment, called “indulgences,” claiming that they were for the forgiveness of sins. He did not, however, intend to undermine the Roman Catholic Church as a whole, rather he sought to call it back to Scripture and to ‘reform’ it to sola scriptura. But in 1520, Martin Luther’s view of the papacy shifted dramatically and permanently. Two events primarily drove Luther’s changed view: 1) The events of 1519 led to Pope Leo X threatening Luther with excommunication from the Catholic Church unless he recanted 41 of his 95 theses, and 2) Luther discovered that there was a forged letter purporting to transfer authority over Rome and parts of the Roman Empire to the Pope. As a result, Luther, knowing of the Antichrist discussed by the apostle Paul in 2 Thessalonians, chapter 2, declared:

“I am entirely of the opinion that the papacy is the Antichrist. But if anyone wants to add the Turk, then the Pope is the spirit of the Antichrist, and the Turk is the flesh of the Antichrist. They help each other in their murderous work. The latter slaughters bodily and by the sword, the former spiritually and by doctrine1.”

As Martin Luther and others before and after him have done, Christians evaluating the current state of the world, readily search the events around them and wonder if the Antichrist is being revealed or is present during intense persecution. Believers today likewise must recognize that the world, and America at large, is currently far from God-glorifying. As is often the case with changes in geo-politics and the rise of new political leaders, various commentators have recently speculated that Joe Biden is the Antichrist mentioned within the Bible.2  While Joe Biden has certainly obtained a level of authority and power, a position that could be used to help usher in a false peace and what the Bible describes to be the “Great Tribulation,” we must ask if performing the role of President of the United States of America truly makes a person the most likely candidate for being the Antichrist. Is that even the correct question to be asking, however? Does Joe Biden actually align with what Scripture tells believers about the Antichrist? Are believers even called to be looking for the Antichrist?

While this author readily agrees that neither the world nor America is heading in a Jesus Christ honoring direction, faithful believers must “take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ”3 and must ask the right Biblical questions in order to accurately respond to such a claim about Joe Biden. The first question should be, “what does the Bible say about the Antichrist,” and the second, “will believers even be here when the Antichrist is revealed?”

Students of the Bible, and most particularly students of Biblical Eschatology, have long evaluated the Bible’s timeline of prophetic events in an attempt to better understand the Scriptures and the world around them, while joyfully anticipating the coming of our Savior Jesus Christ. Though much debate exists within Christian circles about the order of future events, it is this author’s belief that the Bible presents the following timeline to its reader:  the Cross, the Dispensation of Grace, the Rapture of the Church, Antichrist Revealed, Daniel’s 70th Week, the Second Coming, the Millennial Kingdom, the Great White Throne Judgment, and then Eternity Future.4 For purposes of this post, I’ve removed from this timeline the major events before the Cross (Creation, the Fall, the Global Flood, etc.).

It is important for the student of the Bible to identify where it is that they find themselves within God’s timeline provided within Scripture. Those who are trusting in Jesus Christ’s finished work on the Cross5, and contributing no works of their own6, as those who are trusting in Christ’s shed blood for their sins based upon His death, burial, and resurrection7, i.e. the Gospel of our Salvation8, are currently living in what Christians call “the Church Age” and what the apostle Paul termed “the dispensation of the grace of God.9” Paul actually directs believers in Titus 2:11-14 to look for our “blessed hope,” that being Jesus Christ:

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously, and in a godly manner in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, eager for good deeds.

The appearing of Jesus Christ, before His Second Coming, is commonly referred to as the rapture of the Church.10  Christ “catches up” believers to Himself before He later comes to the earth to prevail over the Antichrist prior to the final judgment of His enemies.11  If we are to accept the Pre-Tribulationist’s position with regards to the rapture of the Church, Scripture then tells us that the next prophetic event on God’s timeline will be the emergence of the individual that the Bible labels as the Antichrist, the “man of sin12,” “the lawless one13.”

Within his second letter to the church at Thessalonica, the apostle Paul detailed for believers that it is after the “blessed hope” that the prophetic series of events will occur, those related to the revealing of the Antichrist, and therefore “that Day” in 2 Thessalonians 2:3, “when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.14” The insight provided within Paul’s letter could not have been provided without those persecuted believers being misled by false teachers who told them that they had missed the rapture:

Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.”

“Our gathering together to Him” in verse 1 is a reference to the rapture of the Church, which is the body of Christ15. The Geneva Bible, the predecessor to the King James translation of the Bible, states verse 3 as follows:

Let no man deceive you by any means, for that day shall not come, except there come a departing first, and that the man of sin be disclosed, even the son of perdition,

All English translations of the Bible before the King James Bible translated verse 3 as “a departing first” and some Christians argue that this is a second reference to the rapture of the Church within this passage. But, more directly, the apostle Paul summarized his teaching in verses 6 through 10 where he plainly states God’s revealed timeline as being the removal of the restrainer (the Holy Spirit indwelling Christian believers (verses 6 and 7) which can only occur if believers are removed), the revealing of the “lawless one” (the Antichrist (verse 8)), and then the Second Coming of Christ (the end of verse 8).

In contrast to the pretribulational rapture view, given the continual debate regarding the timing of the rapture of the Church, it is not uncommon for Christian publications, ministries, and preachers to speculate as to the coming of the Antichrist whenever a seemingly wicked world-leader emerges upon the scene. History has provided us numerous examples of this fact – from Hitler to Stalin, Mao to Saddam Hussein, Henry Kissinger to Barack Hussein Obama, the Pope to Jared Kushner – Christendom is full of examples of speculation as to the person who will actually be the one that the Bible refers to as “the” Antichrist.

While recognizing our current ungodly headlines, an increased level of global deception, the decline of the U.S. dollar and calls for its replacement with a global cryptocurrency monetary system, and the argument that the 2020 U.S. election was stolen16, it should be of no surprise to us that various voices are now speculating as to whether or not Joe Biden is the prophesied Antichrist, the man of lawlessness, that the Bible speaks to.

Consider the following:  On January 20th, 2021, a new world-leader emerged upon a stage, but unlike the fanfare that had been showered upon his predecessors before him, the celebration this time was dramatically different. The scene, as this new world-leader placed his hand upon a Bible, was devoid of the normal celebratory crowds. The streets from the capital from which he would rule were empty since citizens were urged to stay home. In place of the tens of thousands of celebrating citizens, 25,000 heavily armed members of his nation’s military patrolled the streets and protected the nation’s Capital from behind tall fences topped with razor wire. Concrete and metal barriers, intended to separate sidewalks from roadways, were installed along the streets in which this new world-leader was planning to commence his inauguration parade. Those attending this parade in plain-clothes were outnumbered by those in uniforms carrying rifles. It was, if described in no other way, a very unusual and somber scene. It was the celebration that went with the election of Joe Biden to the office of President of the United States.

Wars, rumors of wars, pandemics, natural disasters, economic crisis, famines, disease outbreaks, and civil unrest are all stepping stones to the Antichrist.17  Current events would point to soft wars being waged through cyber-attacks and election meddling, unimaginable global debt, rising inflation, a dramatic increase in Christian persecution, the rise of Islam, and false Christianity on display daily. These headlines, lacking holiness and righteousness, make up our current daily news cycle. Though peace was being established throughout the Middle East, after Joe Biden’s election tensions quickly rose between Israel and Iran thanks to Iran’s continuing work on its nuclear program. The election of Joe Biden only increased Iran’s resolve and renewed declarations of one day bombing the nation of Israel off the map. These declarations became more pronounced once a President of Iran’s liking was put in office. In fact, it took only one literal day after Biden’s inauguration for a massive U.S. military convoy to roll into Syria and through it, a re-starting of the projection of “American influence” throughout that region again.

Tensions remain high around the globe between neighboring countries as China and Taiwan, North and South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Iran, and India and China provide flashpoints that have the potential to affect billions. Civil wars continue in countries such as Yemen, Syria, Somalia, and Libya and new types of warfare are being waged daily via the internet and within the high-tech and biotech industries, including untested vaccines and their unknown results and long-term impacts. The question posed, “how will this new world-leader, President Joe Biden, influence current conflicts, or create new ones,” remains to be seen, but given his anti-Biblical beliefs, actions, and voting record, it makes sense that some within Christendom would be asking the more direct question, “could Joe Biden be the Antichrist?”

Within her article, “The Secret History of the Shadow Campaign That Saved the 2020 Election,” author Molly Ball of Time Magazine documented in detail that a “well-funded cabal of powerful people, ranging across industries and ideologies, working together behind the scenes to influence perceptions, change rules and laws, steer media coverage and control the flow of information,” took actions as a cabal that “touched every aspect of the election,” and that they engaged in “a unified legal front to change voting systems and laws.”18  When one combines this brazen admission with Joe Biden’s own statement before the 2020 election that he and his team had created “the most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization in the history of American politics,19” one can only agree that “lawless,” a term associated with the Antichrist in Scripture, would be a term that accurately describes this new world-leader, the President of the United States.

Though Christians are instructed to watch and to hope for the Lord’s return for His body20, the Church, and to be comforted by the fact that God has not appointed us to His wrath21, the discerning Christian must use the sword of the Spirit, the Bible, to identify whether or not speculations have merit. Believers must use the Bible to accurately understand what God has to say about their place within His timeline and they must strive to accurately understand the order of events that will come to pass. By all appearances, Joe Biden is a corrupt career politician who came to power through fraud, lies, and manipulation, but does that fact make Joe Biden “the beast,” the Antichrist, spoken to within the book of Revelation and throughout the Holy Scriptures?

Bible prophecy depicts a coming tyrant, a man of lawlessness, one who will lead the nations into a single government-controlled “utopian” world order. Though Joe Biden can be described as “the most powerful man in the world today” and despite his being a man of lawlessness, he is not the Antichrist described within the Bible.

There are three primary reasons why this author believes that Joe Biden is not the Antichrist spoken of within Scripture. First, the Bible’s representation of the Antichrist does not match the physical, moral, and spiritual characteristics of Joe Biden. Second, world conditions will continue to grow increasingly worse, causing most of the world’s population to cry out for a savior figure with solutions that Joe Biden is incapable of supplying. Third, the Bible’s typology for the Antichrist found in the historical figure of Antiochus Epiphanes does not match the geographical region or the system of government that Joe Biden comes from.

The word “Antichrist” appears within the Bible only in the Epistles of John. The word is used in 1 John 2:18, 22; 4:3 and 2 John 1:7. The apostle John’s letters are concerned with the error of denying the person of Christ. John’s usage of the prefix “anti” is used in both the sense of “against” or “instead of.” In one sense, the Antichrist is the enemy of Christ, but in another sense, he serves as a false or pseudo Christ.22

The Bible’s representation of the Antichrist does not match the physical, moral, and spiritual characteristics found in Joe Biden. The prophet Daniel’s representation of the Antichrist is one that describes a world-leader that will speak great things and persuade the overwhelming majority of the world’s population.23  The Bible states in Daniel 8:23-25 that the Antichrist will have “fierce features” and will be able to understand “sinister schemes.” His power will be great, but the source of his power will be demonic. He shall destroy “fearfully” or what we might say is horrifically, and the Antichrist will succeed (initially) in what he does. Ultimately, he will destroy the nation of Israel and the Jewish people through his deceptive policies that claim to provide peace, success and wealth.24  The Bible tells us that the Antichrist will magnify or glorify himself and through peace, a false peace, he will destroy many nations and people on the earth. In Daniel chapter 11, verses 36 through 39, for example, we learn that the Antichrist will amplify and boost or reinforce information and claims about himself. In fact, the Bible explains that the Antichrist will declare himself to be God, and that he will worship a different god that his fathers did not know, worshiping “with gold, silver, precious stone, and riches.” The Antichrist will attack “the strongest fortresses” with the foreign god, divide the land of Israel, and give honor and glory to those that acknowledge him and help him. An evaluation of Joe Biden’s past and current comments, conduct and character do not fit the “fierce features” the Antichrist is described to have, nor does he fit the other descriptions of the Scriptural Antichrist’s declarations.

Similarly, the prophet Ezekiel’s description of the Antichrist does not match Joe Biden. Ezekiel records that the Antichrist will be wiser than the prophet Daniel25 and that with great wisdom and understanding, the Antichrist will gain great riches and splendor26. The prophet Ezekiel, while appearing to state that the Antichrist will be a Gentile, indicates that this “man of lawlessness” will declare himself to be God. Historic and current observations and reviews of Joe Biden’s knowledge and actions, while they may be characterized as slippery, tricky, or deceptively misleading, cannot be described as wisdom, let alone on the scale of the prophet Daniel.

Also, the book of Revelation’s representation of the Antichrist does not match Joe Biden. The Antichrist will be an imitator of the prophesied Messiah that the Jews are waiting for. The Antichrist is the prophesized rider on the white horse discussed in Revelation chapter 6. As a false messiah, he will demonstrate falsely many of the characteristics of Jesus Christ27. The book of Revelation tells us that though the Antichrist will “come out” of the Gentile nations, his power will be given to him by Satan – not just through demonic possession, but through “Satan possession” – and that he will have great authority throughout the world. All who dwell upon the earth at that time will worship him28, given his deceptive authority and power. The Bible also tells us that the Antichrist will lead military forces that appear to be unrivaled and that he will speak great blasphemies against God29. Again, while Joe Biden has deceived many while labeling himself as a “moderate” and has repeatedly made claims of “unity” and a presidency that would “bring people together,” Joe Biden has not claimed to be the Messiah, and in fact has shown a great disregard for the nation of Israel and the Jewish people, dismissing them with a lack of attention and respect, while also elevating Iran who repeatedly and consistently states their goal of destroying Israel and with it, the Jewish people.

The word Antichrist can be viewed as a simile for the term “false Christ” used in Mark 13:22 and Matthew 24:24. This pseudo-Christ, or false Christ, does not deny the being of a Christ. Instead, he builds on the world’s expectations of such a person. The difference is that he appropriates this role to himself as he blasphemously declares that he is the One spoken of within Scripture. He claims to be the one that God has promised and that the nation Israel has placed its expectation in. This in no way describes the character of Joe Biden.

World conditions will continue to grow increasingly worse30, causing most of the world’s population to cry out for a savior figure with solutions that Joe Biden is incapable of supplying. It is not uncommon to hear people saying, “good riddance to the year 2020,” but the fact of the matter is, Biblically speaking, conditions will continue to grow worse and worse until the Lord’s return. In his second letter to his protégé Timothy, the apostle Paul states, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come,” and later in the same chapter he states, “but evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived”.

Deception comes in various forms and no doubt the apostle Paul was speaking primarily to deception that comes in the form of false doctrine, but for those who do not follow Christ and do not believe in His Gospel, deception can take many forms31. For instance, world conditions are such that the dictating of a particular monetary and economic system could be placed upon the world. Unknown to most, the U.S. National Debt is currently $28.5 trillion32 and at the time of this writing, an additional $1.9 trillion “Covid relief bill” was just approved which will push the U.S. National Debt to over $30 trillion.

The current U.S. Congress is already looking for ways to saddle future generations with more debt. This is money that will never be, nor can it be, paid back. It is money that is being taken away from future generations of Americans. As “Commander in Chief,” Joe Biden now owns this problem. Once one is able to wrap their mind around just how much 30 trillion dollars actually is, they then need to understand that the world’s combined debt is estimated to be over $280 trillion. This realization clearly indicates that a financial and economic problem exists beyond the United States and its President.

Because of this problem, alternative monetary systems, ones that would take the place of the U.S. Dollar, are now becoming increasingly popular. Cryptocurrencies, or a digital-based currency such as Bitcoin, are at all-time highs and now have prominent fund companies investing in the block-chain-based financial system. The latest U.S. Treasury Secretary, Janet Yellen, recently announced that she will be looking into the possibility of a digital currency (FedCoin) to replace the declining dollar.33  All nations are buried in debt that will not be repaid and a financial system, such as China’s digital Yuan, is forecasted to be on the near horizon, giving governments much more control over their citizens. Cryptocurrencies, unlike carrying cash in one’s pocket, would make it much easier for governments to not only track who is purchasing what, but will also make it possible for governments to control who can purchase items and who cannot. Monetary systems such as cryptocurrencies sound eerily close to the building blocks that could usher in the conditions described within chapter 13 of the book of Revelation:

And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

The Bible tells us that during the last days, the ability to control whether a person can buy or sell will be a reality. What the Bible is speaking to is on a global scale and thus overshadows Joe Biden, his $30 trillion slice of the global debt pie, and his Treasury Secretary’s exploration into just one country’s digital currency system. The time will come, however, when world conditions will be such when individual digital currencies can be tied together into one system, thus providing global governance of citizens. Given that fact, we must recognize that world conditions are such that the instituting of a one-world government would be viewed as acceptable by most of the world’s population. Within the last decade, the Pope34 and the Vatican35 have both called for the end of national sovereignty and the establishment of a global government. During the Covid-19 pandemic, calls from world-leaders such as former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Gordon Brown, called for “executive powers” to be given to “a temporary form of global government” that would respond to the pandemic.36  It has long been thought that the United Nations represents the best approach to a one-world government body and much of the literature produced by this organization speaks to global governance. For example, the January 30th, 1976, document titled “The Declaration of Interdependence,37” released by the United Nations’ World Affairs Council, states in part:

“Two centuries ago, our forefathers brought forth a new nation; now we must join with others to bring forth a new world order.  To establish a new world order … it is essential that mankind free itself from limitations of national prejudice. … We affirm that the economy of all nations is a seamless web, and that no nation can any longer effectively maintain its processes for production and monetary systems with recognizing the necessity of collaborative regulation by international authorities.  We call upon all nations to strengthen the United Nations and other institutions of world order.”

One can say that the stage is set for the prophecies found within the book of Daniel, the Olivet Discourse, the book of Revelation, and throughout Scripture to be fulfilled. One can say that the coming of the Antichrist is on our near horizon. I would not disagree. I however, would argue that there remains one additional key event that must come to pass before the “man of lawlessness” is revealed. That event is what is commonly referred to as the rapture of the Church and the possibilities of its fulfillment must also be considered while attempting to understand how it could be that the world would accept a single leader, a “Nimrod” of that day.

After the rapture of the Church38, the body of Christ, world conditions will be such that the instituting and enforcement of one religion will be possible. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-10 speaks to the removal of the “restrainer” (the Holy Spirit indwelling believers, and thus believers themselves) and without the restraining work of the Church, the body of Christ, sin and evil will prosper. Without the restraining force of Christianity in the world, religions such as Secular Humanism or Islam39 will fill the void. With control over the world’s monetary system, global governance being centralized, the ability to dictate who can buy and who can sell, and the removal of the one true faith that restrains evil currently, it is quite conceivable that a demonically controlled religion that forces conversion by the “sword,” such as Islam, will grow in numbers and work towards achieving its goal of instituting Sharia and its desired Caliphate world-wide. This possibility is easy to understand if one is capable of imagining what the world would descend into without the Holy Spirit and without the body of Christ present to suppress evil in all its forms. Though Joe Biden claims to be Catholic, his voting record and his policies reveal that he stands opposed to even the most basic of Catholic theological positions, such as the opposition to abortion and the opposition to same-sex marriages. That said, Joe Biden provides no indication that he follows the “false” prophet Muhammad or the Antichrist religion of Islam.

The Bible’s typology for the Antichrist found in the historical figure of Antiochus Epiphanes does not match the geographical region or the system of government that Joe Biden comes from. In an effort to avoid incorrect speculations as to who the coming Antichrist will be, we must turn to Scripture in order to identify what God has provided as characteristics associated with this future tyrant. Just where will the Antichrist come from? Has God provided us adequate clues as to what the world can expect to come to pass? Indeed He has and He has done that through typology provided within historical figures found in Israel’s history.

Daniel chapter 8 serves as our primary proof text for understanding the historical example and the future fulfillment of just where it is that the Antichrist will come from. Daniel chapter 8, verses 8 through 12, speak to the rise of Alexander the Great and the Grecian Empire. The prophecy indicates that the “large horn,” Alexander the Great, would be “broken” and that “four notable ones” would take his place. Out of these four notable ones, one leader is stated to come out of them and he is referred to as the “little horn.” This little horn exalted himself, stopped the daily sacrifices in the Jewish temple, and desecrated the holy temple of God. This individual perfectly matches the historical figure of Antiochus Epiphanes and it is this man that we must understand in order to gain an accurate picture of the traits and characteristics associated with the soon to be revealed Antichrist.

Daniel chapter 8, verses 17, 19, 23 and 26, uses very specific language as it flows between the near and far fulfillment of this prophecy. Yes, Antiochus Epiphanes fulfilled the prophecies provided in Daniel 9:8-12 and 20-22 and that fact is recorded in history, but the language of verses 17, 19, 23 and 26, with its usage of “the time of the end,” “I am making known to you what shall happen in the latter time,” “And in the latter time,” and “For it refers to many days in the future” all indicate a future fulfillment of these prophecies that will match the characteristics that we find in Antiochus Epiphanes.

Antiochus Epiphanes came from the modern-day region of Syria. He comes out of the third “beast” described in Daniel chapter 7, the leopard, a reference to the Grecian Empire and Alexander the Great. The “four heads” of the leopard represent the four regions that, upon his death, Alexander’s empire was divided amongst his four generals: Egypt went to Ptolemy, Macedonia and Greece were given to Cassander, Thrace was given to Lysimachus, and Babylon and Syria went to Seleucus. Antiochus Epiphanes came out of the Seleucid Empire and though the Antichrist was introduced in Daniel chapter 7, it is within Daniel chapter 8 that the type, the model of the Antichrist to come, is represented historically within the person of Antiochus Epiphanes.

In addition to the historical example provided to us within the pages of the book of Daniel, the Bible also addresses the Antichrist as the “Assyrian” within the writings of the prophets. Three examples, from three separate prophets, include Isaiah 14:25-26, Ezekiel 31:3-9, and Micah 5:4-8. Within these passages, the Bible reveals that God will rescue His people, Israel, from the Assyrian’s global “yoke,” that the Antichrist will be highly exalted and “under his shadow dwelt all great nations,” and that “He shall be great unto the ends of the earth.” The Antichrist will deceive with peace, and he will scatter the Jewish people amongst the Gentiles. History records for us that Joe Biden was born on November 20, 1942, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Joe Biden does not descend from any country found within the Middle-East. History also records that Joe Biden has been elected as the state of Delaware’s longest-serving senator. Joe Biden has in his possession a valid birth certificate that was issued within the United States of America. These facts, combined with his birthplace, tell us that Joe Biden is thoroughly an American and not an Assyrian.

Despite the Bible’s clear teaching on where it is the Antichrist will come from, there are those who will argue that Joe Biden is the man of lawlessness that Scripture speaks about. Their argument is largely founded upon the fact that Joe Biden is the President of the United States of America, thus he is to be viewed as the most powerful man in the world, and that he is therefore the best candidate for being the final world ruler spoken of within the Bible. The primary problem with this position is that there is no Scriptural support for the position that the Antichrist will come from America.

The Bible speaks abundantly about the nation of Israel, speaks to a much less degree concerning the nations surrounding Israel, and is devoid of any mention of nations such as Brazil, Japan, India, or the United States of America. Furthermore, the typology for the Antichrist described within the Bible, Antiochus Epiphanes, points the student of Eschatology to the Seleucid Empire, the region that includes modern-day Syria, Turkey, Iraq, and Iran. As stated previously, numerous verses within the prophets refer to the Antichrist as the “Assyrian” and Biblical history places Assyria within the region of modern-day Turkey, Iraq, Iran, and Syria.

Though Joe Biden, having been given the title, “President of the United States of America,” can be thought of as “the most powerful man in the world,” which is debatable given the rise of China, one must thoroughly search the Scriptures in order to understand the qualities and characteristics that the Bible provides concerning the man of sin, the Antichrist. The Bible’s description of the Antichrist, representing him as being a charismatic model leader who is very intelligent, extremely wealthy, attractive, and able to demonstrate human good like no one before him in no way describes the character, morals, or values of Joe Biden.

History documents that Antiochus Epiphanes was a charismatic role model of a leader, one who was charming, very intelligent, a leader of armies, and a philanthropist. Joe Biden is none of these, and certainly not to the degree set out in Scripture. In fact, Joe Biden has only donated to charity just $369 a year during 1997 to 2007 and more recently just 1.5% of his income during 201940, but more important is the fact that it is highly likely that Joe Biden has dementia and because of this enfeebling disease it is speculated that he is losing intelligence by the day.

On June 10th, 2020, Dr. Benjamin L. Corey posted on his website, the question, “Could American Evangelicals Spot the Antichrist?”41  The article makes numerous statements such as “you keep your eyes peeled for the Antichrist” and “Christians on guard should be looking for a king-like figure who loves to boast about himself.”  Dr. Corey’s writings, like many within Christendom, hold to the position that Christians alive today will see the Antichrist and will witness the activities that Scripture documents concerning this man of sin. The argument is that Christians will be on planet earth when the Antichrist is revealed and when he proclaims himself to be God from within a future temple located in Jerusalem.

This position directs the student of the Bible towards the debate within Christendom concerning the rapture of the Church. It is this author’s position that true Bible-believing Christians who understand and believe the Gospel42 will be raptured up to heaven before the Antichrist is revealed and before the seven-year tribulation period spoken of within Scripture. A proper understanding of 2 Thessalonians 2:1-10 identifies that the series of future events involves the rapture of the Church, the man of sin being revealed, the abomination of desolation at the midpoint of the tribulation period, and then Christ’s Second Coming.

The arguments as to the timing of the rapture reveals the level of one’s understanding into the area of Ecclesiology, the study of the Church, found within those who are making their arguments. The apostle Paul tells us that the Church, the body of Christ, is to be spared from the wrath of God43 that is to be poured out during Daniel’s 70th Week44 (the tribulation period). It is the rapture of the Church that ends the period of time that theologians call the “Church Age.”

All those who are “in Christ” during the Church Age, the dispensation of the grace of God45, will be “caught up” together in the clouds before God’s wrath is poured out upon planet Earth. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 tell us,

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

The Bible also tells us in 1 Corinthians 15:51-53,

Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

Since Christians will be raptured before the beginning of the seven-year tribulation period, we who are alive during the Church Age will not see the Antichrist’s rise to power. It is possible that we will see him on the world stage, but we will not recognize him as the beast, the man of lawlessness spoken of in Scripture, because he will not yet have made his move toward world domination. At the heart of the debate pertaining to the rapture of the Church lies an understanding of just what a Christian is to be looking for from day to day, what they are hoping for day to day, and whether or not they are living a victorious life in Christ, as opposed to spending each day concerned for the future while they anticipate the coming wrath of God and their having to endure what is documented for us within the book of Revelation. The election of Joe Biden, fraudulent or not, will have no bearing upon the apostle Paul’s instructions to the Church to be looking for the “blessed hope” and the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ46.

Bible prophecy depicts a coming tyrant, the man of sin, who will lead the nations into an attempted single-government controlled “utopian” world order. Though Joe Biden can be described as “the most powerful man in the world today” and despite his being a man of lawlessness, he is not the Antichrist described within the Bible. The Bible’s representation of the Antichrist does not match the physical, moral, and spiritual characteristics found in Joe Biden. World conditions will continue to grow increasingly worse, causing most of the world’s population to cry out for a savior figure with solutions that Joe Biden is incapable of supplying. Lastly, the Bible’s typology for the Antichrist found in the historical figure of Antiochus Epiphanes does not match the geographical region or the system of government that Joe Biden comes from. The Biblical evidence is clear that Joe Biden is not the Antichrist spoken of within Scripture.

Should Christians be on the lookout for the Antichrist? No, they should not. Christians are to be looking for Jesus Christ and not for the Antichrist. The removal of the Restrainer’s influence precedes the unmasking of the Antichrist and evil is currently being hindered, for the time being, by the Restrainer.47  Once the Church Age ends, the restraining will end and unimaginable rebellion will then have the upper hand, at least temporarily. Instead of entertaining and engaging in foolish speculations48, as ambassadors for Christ49, Christians are to be of the Lord’s business, and are commanded to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a lost and dying world that is in need of reconciliation to God and through that reconciliation, they will be able to avoid the severe persecution that is certain to come upon this planet with the revealing of the Antichrist.

  1. Doesn’t the Bible specifically say that the Antichrist will be a Jew? (A Syrian Jew, I thought) That’d be the only way the Jews would accept him as their Messiah (so called) also, if you think about it. I’ve heard on news (reliable ones) that the Heads in Israel have even already “been in contact with the Messiah”. Myself, I am waiting for JESUS Christ, not the antichrist.

  2. Thank you for the read, I don’t believe the Joe Biden fit the description of the Antichrist. I will keep following God and Not Man.
