The subject of this book is the city (Jerusalem, mentioned over 40 times), as the prior book was the temple.  The book not only deals with the judgment of the nations which oppressed Israel, and with the establishment of Jerusalem, but it predicts the final and glorious restoration of Zion, and the punishment of the nations which will then oppress her.  The advent and presence of the Messiah and the manifestation of His power from Jerusalem are prominent in this prophecy.
